AI is reshaping the Salesforce ecosystem, from how organizations hire the skills professionals need to stay competitive. As businesses move toward the agentic enterprise, understanding Salesforce AI trends, hiring demand and emerging skills is critical for both employers and professionals.

We spoke to Simon Macklin, Success Leader at Salesforce, to get his perspective on how AI is transforming the Salesforce talent market and what organizations should prepare for next.

What is changing in the Salesforce ecosystem with AI and Agentforce?

The Salesforce ecosystem is entering a new era of transformation, moving beyond generative AI into the agentic enterprise. In this model, AI, data, applications and people operate as a unified system designed to turn intelligence into immediate, actionable outcomes.

This shift is already reshaping the way organizations approach growth. Over the next three to five years, every company should expect to evolve toward a model where humans and AI agents work in close partnership. As these agents become more embedded in business processes, they will not only change how work is done but also create entirely new roles, businesses and even new industries that are only just beginning to emerge.

How is AI changing Salesforce hiring and operations?

While AI capabilities are advancing rapidly, the biggest challenge for organizations is execution.

Many organizations are still working to close the ‘last mile’ of technology, the gap between what AI is capable of and what it takes to deploy it reliably at scale. The priority is no longer experimentation, but execution – building the infrastructure, confidence and operational frameworks required to make AI work in practice will define success.

At the center of this transformation is talent.

What skills do Salesforce professionals need in the AI era?

Every industry, every role, and every organization is being redesigned in response to the rise of human-AI collaboration. As AI assumes more routine tasks, the role of the professional is shifting. The defining capability for the next generation of Salesforce talent will be AI fluency, not just an understanding of the technology, but the ability to work alongside it to deliver meaningful business impact.

To master this fluency, professionals will need to develop three core capabilities:

  • AI Engagement: Building the confidence to work alongside AI
  • AI Activation: Embedding AI into daily workflows
  • AI Expertise: Combining human, technical, and business skills to redesign how work gets done

How should organizations adapt their Salesforce workforce?

AI is not just a technology shift, it is a people transformation. It requires giving employees the tools, time and support to adapt, while evolving roles and structures to reflect a hybrid workforce.

At Salesforce, a clear playbook for this transformation has emerged:

  • Redesign how work gets done by augmenting human capability with AI speed and scale
  • Reskill people to guide, lead, and scale alongside AI
  • Redeploy talent to enable agility and focus on higher-value work
  • Rebalance work to create the right partnership between humans and AI

Alongside this, new roles are emerging to help organizations operationalize AI. Positions such as AI Architect, AI Conversation Designer, Deployment Strategist and Human-AI Collaboration Lead reflect the growing need to structure and scale human-AI collaboration effectively.

Why do Salesforce hiring trends and data matter?

In a fast-moving ecosystem, independent research plays an essential role.

With 11.6 million new jobs projected across the Salesforce economy by 2028, access to clear, reliable data helps organizations and professionals understand where opportunities are emerging. While AI will take on a growing share of routine work, human talent remains the ultimate competitive advantage in creating real value.

Mason Frank’s Careers and Hiring Guide supports that understanding, providing insight into how the market is evolving, where demand is growing, and how skills are changing.

Because while the technology will continue to evolve, it is ultimately people who determine the outcomes.
