Location: Southern California - Hybrid (onsite 2X per week)

Role Overview:
We're hiring a Data Engineering Manager to lead the analytics engineering function and own the strategy, architecture, and delivery of the company's data platform. This role manages a small team of analysts, partners closely with software engineering on integrations and pipelines, and makes key technical decisions around how data is modeled, governed, and consumed across the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring initiative and accountability. You'll operate with a high degree of autonomy-identifying problems, proposing solutions, and driving execution. When tradeoffs arise, priorities are speed, security, and stability (in that order).

Key Responsibilities:

  Manage and develop a team of data analysts focused on reporting, dashboards, and data modeling
• 
  
  Own schema design, warehouse architecture, and data modeling standards
• 
  
  Integrate multiple internal and third-party systems with Salesforce Sales Cloud
• 
  
  Partner with engineering teams on ETL/ELT pipelines, integrations, and source system changes
• 
  
  Optimize query performance, pipeline reliability, and storage costs
• 
  
  Establish and enforce standards for data quality, access controls, and documentation
• 
  
  Evaluate, select, and implement tools across the data stack
• 
  
  Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable data solutions
• 
  
  Stay close to the work and lead by example

Qualifications:

• 
  
  5+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering
• 
  
  2+ years of experience managing or technically leading a team
• 
  
  Strong experience working with Salesforce data (SOQL, custom objects, relationships, reporting)
• 
  
  Deep expertise with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake or Azure Data Warehouse)
• 
  
  Advanced SQL and strong data modeling skills (star schema, normalization tradeoffs, SCDs)
• 
  
  Hands-on experience with at least one BI platform (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker)
• 
  
  Experience with ETL/ELT orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Airbyte, or similar)
• 
  
  Background in data governance, PII handling, and regulated environments
• 
  
  Ability to understand and document business logic, not just technical implementation
• 
  
  Clear, confident communicator across technical and business stakeholders
• 
  
  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
