    AI Principal Architect

    Sweden, Stockholm

    • SEK 65,000 to SEK 100,000 SEK
    • Architects Role
    • Skills: AI, GenAI, AI Architect, Generative AI, RAG, LLM, Presales, AI Strategy
    • Seniority: Senior

    Job description

    AI Principal / AI Architect

Sweden | Hybrid | Senior / Principal level

Build what comes next in AI consulting.

We're working with a large-scale technology consultancy that is going through a really exciting period of change within its Data & AI business.

New senior leaders have joined with a clear ambition: to build, reshape and significantly scale the consultancy's AI offering.

They already have strong capability, major clients and some genuinely interesting transformation work underway. Now they're looking for an exceptional person to help take that to the next level.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit on the sidelines and advise.

They're looking for someone who can think strategically, speak confidently with senior clients, lead pre-sales, architect complex AI solutions - and still get into the IDE and build.

    The opportunity:

As an AI Principal Architect, you'll sit at the intersection of AI engineering, architecture and management consulting.

You'll work with clients to understand their business challenges, shape the right solution, prove its value and ultimately help take it into production.

    You could be involved in:
    • Designing and implementing modern AI and agentic AI systems
    • Building Proofs of Concept and turning them into commercially viable Proofs of Value
    • Taking AI solutions through the full lifecycle into secure, scalable production
    • Architecting solutions across cloud, data, AI and automation platforms
    • Working directly with C-level and senior stakeholders to understand their objectives and challenge their thinking
    • Leading technical discovery and pre-sales engagements
    • Building business cases and translating complex technology into something commercially meaningful
    • Assessing existing client environments and identifying whether the answer is capability development, coaching or a new solution
    • Developing reusable IP, accelerators and packaged AI solutions
    • Helping shape the consultancy's wider AI strategy and offering
    • Supporting and mentoring other architects, engineers and consultants as the team grows

You'll have genuine influence over how AI consulting is delivered, what the proposition looks like and where the business goes next.

The kind of person they're looking for?

This is a deliberately ambitious profile.

You might come from an AI architecture, solution architecture, data science, software engineering or management consulting background. The exact route matters less than your ability to operate across the technical and commercial sides of the role.

    You'll ideally have:
    • Significant experience delivering AI solutions in real-world enterprise environments
    • Experience with modern AI/GenAI and ideally agentic systems
    • A strong understanding of architecture, data and cloud environments
    • Experience taking solutions beyond experimentation and into production
    • The ability to write production-quality code and get hands-on when required
    • Experience working directly with clients and senior stakeholders
    • A background in consulting, advisory or solution-led environments
    • Experience contributing to or leading pre-sales
    • The ability to understand a complex business problem and turn it into a credible technical and commercial solution
    • A rigorous, scientific and analytical mindset
    • The curiosity to continually learn and stay ahead of what is happening across AI

Cloud experience is useful, particularly Azure, but they're not overly prescriptive. Experience across GCP or AWS is absolutely relevant.

    More than an architect...

The people joining this team are expected to be more than technical specialists.

They want people who are autonomous, curious and commercially minded.

Someone who can walk into a client conversation, understand what they are actually trying to achieve, challenge the brief when necessary and say "No, I don't think that's the right approach" when the evidence supports it.

Someone who can then turn around and build the thing.

The team is particularly interested in people who have seen a lot, built a lot and still think it's fun.

You won't be joining an established AI practice where everything has already been decided.

    You'll be helping build it.

    What makes this different?

The wider consultancy already has significant scale, but this is a new chapter for its Data & AI organisation.

The senior leadership coming in have already delivered complex transformation programmes across areas including data platforms, AI, data governance and digital transformation. They're now looking to build a much larger team around them.

There is already a strong pipeline of work, including major transformation programmes, AI implementations and advisory engagements.

The ambition is to build a high-performing consultancy where senior people can take significant responsibility, work on genuinely complex problems and have a visible impact on the direction of the business.

There's also the opportunity to develop new propositions, IP and potentially productised AI offerings rather than simply delivering one project after another.

    The environment:

You'll be surrounded by experienced consultants, architects and engineers, with a strong bias towards senior capability.

The expectation is high - but so is the autonomy.

If you're someone who wants to do exactly the same thing for 40 hours a week and go home, this probably isn't the environment for you.

If you're someone who is genuinely fascinated by AI, follows what is changing in the industry, enjoys solving difficult problems and wants to help build something bigger than your individual project, this could be a very interesting next step.

    Location:

The team has a presence across Sweden, including Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg, Linköping and Copenhagen, and although Stockholm is the preference, there is flexibility around where the right person is based.

Some travel and face-to-face client/team interaction will naturally be part of the role.

    The bottom line...

This is a chance to join a large consultancy at a point where its Data & AI offering is being actively reshaped and scaled.

You'll have the backing and reach of a large organisation, but the opportunity to operate with the autonomy, influence and entrepreneurial mindset of a much smaller specialist consultancy.

If you're an experienced AI leader who wants to build, advise, sell, deliver and shape what comes next, this is worth a conversation.
